A little about me

Since you asked…

My full name’s Jessica but I’m way more comfortable with Jess. I was born and raised in Northern California, spent the past decade appreciating deep dish pizza and all four seasons in Chicago, and recently relocated back to the Golden State.

I learned I was a perfectionist when my 5th grade teacher said I spent so much time writing and rewriting the number 4 until it looked good that I ended up not getting to the whole math test. I’ve been trying to both embrace and dismiss this habit since.

I geek on personality assessments—StrengthsFinder, MBTI, Love Languages, Enneagram—don’t get me started. Or do. Any chance to understand ourselves and how we interact with one another better: I’m in. If there’s a dance floor, I’m usually on it. I’m happiest in the sun, near salt water, or on top of a mountain. I think the yin and yang is the most wonderful symbol.

About 6 years ago, I adopted the title of career-changer, leaving the world of retail management and visual merchandising to pursue my dream of being a creative full-time. I feel lucky to make beautiful and functional things for businesses, brands, and the people behind them. My days currently consist of developing brands and websites for freelance clients though, most recently, I led and managed a digital applications design team at FCB Chicago.
